Recognition of Prior Learning Mechanism and Assessment Agency
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a mechanism under the Qualifications Framework (QF) which aims to recognise work experiences and competencies acquired by practitioners at the workplace. This mechanism provides an alternative route for practitioners to obtain QF-recognised qualifications and facilitates their subsequent progression in learning, and probably in careers. Recognition of Prior Learning Unit, Vocational Training Council (VTC) was appointed by the Secretary for Education as an independent Assessment Agency to conduct the RPL assessment of nine industries, namely automotive, catering, electrical & mechanical services, hairdressing, jewellery, printing & publishing, property management, retail, and watch & clock.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Hairdressing Industry – Arrangement of International Certification for Hairdressing Techniques & Management Composite Qualification

Due to the ipsn cease of operations, candidates passing the RPL Hairdressing Techniques & Management Composite Qualification before 30 Nov 2021 will still be awarded the ipsn Certificate. The application deadline is 30 Oct 2021. Applications for the RPL Hairdressing Techniques & Management Composite Qualification after 1 Dec 2021 and passed will only receive the “Certificate of Occupational Skill Level” of the Mainland and the “Vocational Assessment Competency Certificate” of Hong Kong.
